It isn't a myth or superstition. Depending on the cleanliness of the facility where you get your tattoo there is a possible chance of bacteria that could contaminate the epidural. Some women who have tattoos have experienced inflammation in the area and others have lived with pain for the rest of their life. An epidural is essentially a catheter going directly into your spine to deliver the pain medication. It isn't just a shot. That is incredibly dangerous to even take the risk, so doctors won't put their jobs at risk because of it. Ultimately it will be the doctors choice and discretion. I know when I am an OB I will not order epidurals to women with lower back tattoos. That is too much schooling to put at risk. Now some doctors will go around the tattoo if it is convenient and the anesthesiologist is able to get to the target area without piercing through any ink. But again, that is at the discretion of the doctors and nurses.

I wasn't being rude or judging your choices, but your OP was to suggest the discussion of SM tattoos. And that is just my bit on the discussion and was only passing along the advice I was given when choosing placement of my ink as well as what to get specifically.

Which one because the only ones I saw was the one where Sailor Saturn wanted someone to give her ideas for a tattoo and the other one was everyone showing their tattoos. This is to show off the Sailor Moon Tattoos out there and such.

I got an Epi and have a "Tramp Stamp" So I am not so sure about that you can't have one. But I also have scoliosis so it was a bit different for me I guess, they did mine higher up.

and I think it might be the anesthesiologist choice not the OB doctor.

Generally about tattoos, I like side ones, just because you can easily hide them.

I've been thinking awhile about this and I figured I would like to get a Sailor Moon tattoo. However, I'm not sure of what or even where. I was thinking more of a symbol of sorts to represent Sailor Moon rather than have a character tattooed on me. I don't know how that would look like 30+ years from now lol

The reason why I would like one is because Sailor Moon has always been this big piece of me. Even if I go through some down time phases where I'm not really doing anything in terms of Sailor Moon, she always has a place in my heart. She always has since I was a little girl. So I figure if I decide to do it, to get something symbolic to represent her (like the crescent moon that appeared behind her with the flowers on it after one of her earlier transformations).

I have thought about it but honestly, I'd probably would not go through with it. I have a high pain tolerance but the pain from a tattoo...I don't think I would be able to stand it XD.

Well, I just designed my tattoo I'm getting with my best friend (a few times over) and we finally decided on my most recent concept. I figured I'd share because it has elements of a Sailor Moon brooch as all you moonies would probably notice when I drew it up, I wasn't even really thinking about Sailor Moon...just some elements came out as I went and then when I was finished I was like "oh...this looks Sailor Moon-y". XD which is fine because I have gotten my best friend into Sailor Moon a few months back and now she loves the series. We're slowly plowing through it (three seasons to go! Plus manga and PGSM lol).

Nah. I know we're good. We've been friends for a few years and have gone through way too many trials best friends shouldn't even have to go through. Too long of a story as to what I mean, but we've always strove through all the BS and we're certain this is what we want.

i have sailor moon tattoos! i think one of the best thing about sailor moon themed tattoos (other than tattoos of the actual characters themselves) is that while other moonies would instantly recognise them, other people can still appreciate them because they're cute and interesting designs.
so even if your love for sailor moon dies down over the years, it's not like you'll be devo that you're stuck with an SM tattoo, because it'll still be a pretty picture on your skin.

well that's how i think, anyway :3 i can't imagine regretting my tattoos if i stop loving sailor moon (which is highly unlikely anyway!!) because they are just really pretty and well done. ><

I would totally get a SM tattoo - I dislike actual.. images? I prefer symbols. I might get the crescent; I've thought of it before, getting it on the back of my neck, at the base. I really really like those PGSM symbol, i think they have HUGE tattoo potential.

I already have one tattoo, its on my right hand on the top - on the area between my thumb and pointer finger. Geisha (芸者) - its just the first symbol there, it means "art, talent, ability".

but, the colors gold and silver don't exist on the ink for the tattoo, so they'll try to come close to it. my gold color was actually brown, orange and yellow.
