I don't think a board like this is anywhere.... but direct me to it if there is one!


I thought it'd be fun to share our experiences with discovering small Sailor Moon nuggets in real life, 'nuggets' being, say, seeing a stranger reading the manga in a public place, or someone wearing something that strongly reminds you of the series, a particular hairdo, a personality, a stray black cat -- anything that just jumps out and SMACKS YOU IN THE FACE with Sailor Moon happy feelings.


For example:

Today, while walking around and answering questions in one of the classes, I looked down to make sure I wasn't stepping on a backpack strap and BAM! Girl had pics of Princess Serenity on her binder. I FLIPPED OUT. Quietly.
I was all "SAILOR MOON?!" in a yell-whisper, and she was like "Yes! Oh my god!" with a look on her face like 'wait, what? student teacher knows Sailor Moon?' and we high-fived. ... the rest of her group was all 'wtf', but we totally shared a moonie moment.

It wasn't much of a moment but I realised I could introduce the world of Sailor Moon to my fiance's 4 year old sister. She will become part of the new generation of moonies. Haha, oh dear.

I grabbed a picture of all the senshi's and explained who each of them were to her. She was very impressed, her favourite was Sailor Jupiter I think, because she's really tall. In a couple of years I will be bringing over the episodes for her. I can't wait!

This kind of reminds me of younger me! Ha! Ha! Ha! I use to draw Sailor Moon characters everywhere when I was still in high school.. I even drew on the desks and ended up in the princpal's office more than once. People used to know me as the anime girl at school and I always wore my hair in an anime way.



Even when I got my first job, I used to wear my hair in two odangos or other common anime ways.

I never thought it would make me so popular actually, instead of making fun of me, people ended up doing like me without knowing anything about anime...

I was at work, and there was a girl wearing one of the Hot Topic Sailor Moon shirts!! Me not used to seeing Moonies in real life, I flipped out and we stood there for 20 minutes talking about Sailor Moon! <3

Also, my work is starting to have SM merch- pins, notebooks, etc!

I need to get out more and meet some of the other moonies you speak of.

lol XD I talked my best friend in 6th grade into getting friendship necklaces that were blue stones cut into the shape of a crescent moon because I secretly hoped they would grant us moon powers. ... No Regrets.

I know it has to do with real life but because it mentions Sailor Moon then it's related so I'm going to move it to General Sailor Moon. ... Have you ever just looked at someone and gotten the Moonie vibe? o_o I don't really know how else to explain it. It's like a Spidey-sense, except involving a love of Sailor Moon rather than an alert for danger. XD

I mean, the anime-lover-vibe is more like astute observation. Wears dark clothing? Probably into anime. Likes to read? Probably into anime/manga. Dresses in super-bright fun colors? Probably into anime. Weird hairstyle or weird hair color? Probably into anime. Has a creepy-nerd attitude? Probably into anime in a way you would rather not approach in fear that he may become a stalker.

But the Moonie vibe is something I've gotten even from people who don't fit the stereotypical anime-lover persona. I think it's probably in their past or something, but I feel it there, lurking... an enjoyment of black cats with moon-shaped 'bald spots', strange "romantic" monologues, and girls kicking ass with magical powers. ... or just general characteristics, you know?

For instance, I think one of my new roommates knows of Sailor Moon....


But the problem with getting the Moonie vibe is figuring out how to approach them and verify your feelings without being awkward.




Anyone else get the Moonie vibe?

During the summer while driving up to get fitted for our bride's maids dress, me and my sister's friend ended up talking about Sailor Moon half of the way there. Did not expect that considering she is 30, married, and has a son!

Though I think that's sadly the closest thing I've had, not too many Moonie around here sadly!

Hm...really the only thing I can remember was when I was in 8th grade, I met my future high school best friend because she had a locker next to mine. Well, I happened to have pictures of Sailor Moon in my locker (because I was and always will be a huge giant nerd, and v. proud lol). And she was like "omg you like sailor moon!" and i was like "OMG YEAH" and yeah. XD We then ended up being on the flag team together in High School and had a lot of classes together. She was one of my closest friends.

Its funny because a lot of my friends in high school ended up loving Sailor Moon too, but weren't necessarily into anime as much. One of my other friends (the one who gave me the play-a-sound book) had even dressed up as Sailor Jupiter when she was little.

And then my other best friend in now on this forum! Yay!

For my early birthday present and I mean like WAY early, my best guy friend bought me a handcrafted Sailor Moon brooch necklace.

He handed it to me and I opened the box it was in and screamed! I like jumped into his arms and gave him a huge hug, all while sqealing like a 5 year old at Christmas. Everyone around me was like WTF. I have now taken to posting my Sailor Moon freakouts on my facebook.
