Deku Tree : Before time began, before spirits and life existed... Three golden goddesses descended upon the chaos that was Hyrule...

Din, the goddess of power... Nayru, the goddess of wisdom...
Farore, the goddess of courage...

Din... With her strong flaming arms, she cultivated the land and
created the red earth.

Nayru... Poured her wisdom onto the earth and gave the spirit of law
to the world.

Farore... With her rich soul, produced all life forms who would
uphold the law.

The three great goddesses, their labors completed, departed for
the heavens. And golden sacred triangles remained at the point where
the goddesses left the world. Since then, the sacred triangles have
become the basis for our world's providence. And, the resting place
of the triangles has become the Sacred Realm.

Deku Tree : Thou must never allow the desert man in black armor to lay his hands on the sacred Triforce... Thou must never suffer that man, with his evil heart, to enter the Sacred Realm of legend... That evil man who cast the death curse upon me and sapped my power...

Because of that curse, my end is nigh... Though your valiant efforts to break the curse were successful, I was doomed before you started... Yes, I will pass away soon... But do not grieve for me... I have been able to tell you of these important matters...

This is Hyrule's final hope... citizens of Hyrule... Go now to Hyrule Castle... There, thou will surely meet the Princess of Destiny...

The Rules:

<0> I am the Mod thy God. If a dispute arises, my decision is final. That said, I am not infallible - if I make a mistake or you have a question, please inform me of the problem (preferably via PM or bold text) and I will correct it. 
<1> This is a game. I hope that you have fun. I almost demand it. In return, I ask that you not have your fun at the expense of the other players in this game (in other words, don't be a jerk). Repeated or extreme violations of this rule will result in replacement or modkill. 
<1a> Attempting to use loopholes in the rules to gain an advantage in the game is considered jerk-i-ness, and will be treated as such. This applies to things like encrypted codes, invisible text, editing and deleting posts, trying to use the structure of the role PM to gain an advantage, etc. Please, use your common sense! 
<2> If there is a conflict between a role and the rules, the role wins
<3> Quoting private communications (role PM, mason conversations, etc.) or pretending to do the same will result in a modkill. Paraphrasing, however, is not only acceptable but encouraged unless I explicitly say otherwise. 
<4> You may not talk with other people about this game outside of the game threads (but see Rule 2).
<4a> Please don't use interactions outside of this game. You can use your knowledge of each other, but please only use content from in game. You can relate to old threads and other details about people's character. Basically don't use real life interactions in game.
<5> To help the game run smoothly, votes should be made in bold text, and use the format Vote XXXX. An unvote is required to remove a vote; to unvote, please use the format Unvote XXXX
<6> Everyone gets a vote. If a player has a majority of votes, that player is lynched and cannot be unvoted (but see rule 2). You may talk during night unless I state otherwise. 
<6a> You are allowed to vote for Vote No LynchOnce No Lynch becomes the majority it immediately moves into the night phase. If the deadline occurs without a majority a random player will be lynched from with a random role. 
<7> Each game day/night will begin with a negotiable deadline of 2 days in place. At the end of each 48 hours, if I find the activity level in the game acceptable and the day/night does not end with the deadline, then I will extend the deadline by one day, to a maximum of four days; the maximum deadlines are not retractable. 
<8> When you die, stop posting. You may make a single "Bah!"/"Screw you!"/etc. post in the thread. You may not include game content in this post. In addition, once you are dead, please do not discuss the game with anyone other than the Mod until the game is over, as this makes the mod's life easier. (But see rule 2.)
<9> I require that all players post at least once every 48 hours, or inform me if this is not possible. The first time you violate this rule, you will be prodded. The second time you violate this rule, you will receive an Official Warning. The third time you violate this rule, you will be modkilled. 
<9a> If you have limited access, you need to post to this effect, either through PM or in the thread. If I prod you despite you declaring limited status, call me on it and I will be duly embarrassed. 
<10> Players may only use one special ability per day (but see Rule 2). Passive abilities and factional abilities are not counted as special abilities for purposes of this rule. 
<11> This game will start on Day 1 after all players have confirmed (by the method specified in their role PM). 
<12> Any player who is modkilled automatically loses the game. I will modkill in the fashion that I deem most damaging to the modkilled player's faction. 
<13> I reserve the right to add rules if necessary (or if I really, really want to). 
<14> Okay, that's enough formal-sounding stuff. Good luck, and most importantly have fun!

Addendum:


It's been suggested that I make clarifications compared to other games played here:

You are free to role play, lie, manipulate, role claim, and make up a fake role. As long as you don't edit, delete, or quote private messages/boards it's fair game. 

Roles and alignment at the start of the game will be true to game. Link is town and Ganondorf is scum. 

If the mafia become the majority the game may still continue depending on the roles still in the game.

If you die please keep an eye on your PMs. You can't talk, but remember rule 2 is powerful.

Be crafty, exploit, and manipulate if you can. There may be powerful latent abilities like not being able to be lynched, but know that everything is balanced and be wary.

I think that should sum up some differences. There will be others, but I'll let you discover them yourself. Be astute and remember to have fun.

Just so people start to realize what we could be up against. Most likely with the mafia we are dealing with a godfather role (probably Ganon but not necessarily) that will show up as innocent when investigated. There is probably a role that prevents someone from using their powers. The possibility exists of someone that can kill players that are protected. Someone that can investigate townies to discover their roles. Also consider a third party person could exist who has the goal of being the last player alive, killing us every night.

I don't want to the mafia's homework for them so they can figure out what we could have. Beyond that whatever Puppy has made up.

I'm also going to bring up that Objects seem to be important, in the opening statement Link is given a stone, one I'm assuming the Spiritual Stone of the Forest. Beyond this, I would assume basic items like the Mastersword and the Triforce are actual pieces to the game.

So we have to be very, very sure we're right before we lynch anyone. And whoever the cop is... Remember, like Popeye said, you may have investigated someone who will show up innocent while they're guilty, or vise versa. And of course, there are people who can revive others, kill people when they try to kill them... There's all sorts of insanity going on. So tread carefully

And it would be really interesting if there are objects in this game like Neo Queen said. They'll probably do something like protecting the holder of giving them a power.

Also, one thing we can do today is assume we have a doctor and cop type role. Doctor protect yourself tonight if you can. We should consider someone to investigate along side lynching. Of course I'm not asking the cop role to reveal themselves but I'm not sure what kind of experience they have. We don't know when they will make the claim but when they do spilling the beans on what they know will be better if they were aimed at people that would be useful to know.

When investigating it's good to search people that could be good leaders if they are found out to be townies, we can trust them and they can take the lead. So who should we investigate tonight and why shouldn't it be you?

I don't want to influence anyone just yet so I'm going to hold on to my response to my question for a little while.

Very good advice, but I'm curious as to why you said "shouldn't it be you" instead of why should it be you? Personally it makes more sense to me to want the cop to look at you to prove you're town. Can you explain why we should be explaining our reasons for staying not viewed?

And one more thing: If there's anything I've learned from my first Mafia game on here and from reading the Steven Universe game, you should not assume that active players are Mafia or innocent, and you should not assume quiet played are Mafia/innocent. That cannot be stressed enough. It's better to look at the content of what people post and how they act. And it's harder to do that with inactive players, but still.

Very good advice, but I'm curious as to why you said "shouldn't it be you" instead of why should it be you? Personally it makes more sense to me to want the cop to look at you to prove you're town. Can you explain why we should be explaining our reasons for staying not viewed?

I'm afraid that doesn't answer what I asked, but rather is more an attempt to get me to give information on myself.

I specifically would like to know why you chose that specific word of "shouldn't". If you don't have a motive and are being helpful I don't see why asking on your word choice is a problem.
