So I'm wondering if there were any movies from your childhood that you watched again as an adult and found the film has aged well.

I was surfing the television and I found one of my favorite childhood movies: The Neverending Story. While I've noticed flaws that I missed as a kid, as a whole, the movies aged well. The story was still engaging, majority of the acting was well done, wonderful characters and the special effects (for the most part) were well done. (Not to mention the emotions )

Basically every studio ghibli film and pixar/disney film that I have ever watched. The animation and voice acting, along with music and transitions are still impressive today, even more so considering the lack of technological advances used in animation today didn't exist. While some aspects of characters may not apply today (IE the way women are portrayed as only being good housekeepers in snow white and cinderella ect), it still doesn't take away from the entirety of the film.

I'll have some more concrete answers as I have more time to think and rewatch other childhood films.

Like Cosmos said, basically every Disney/Pixar movie ever made. Particularly Cinderella, the animation is still great (I actually like hand drawn stuff more than CGI or even digital 2D animation) and the acting and songs are solid. Snow White and Beauty and the Beast as well.

As for non animated ones, well I watched Star Wars a lot growing up and that still holds up (except for 1 and 2, I liked them much more when I was younger but now I see all their shortcomings).

For me, it's "Space Jam".
The Looney Tunes being with Michael Jordan, the overall story, the spaceship landing on the baseball field with Michael Jordan coming out of it....It's just a classic that has a great deal of nostalgia with it, now.

For me, it's The Last Unicorn. Beautiful music, I love the story, everything about it is great. I also really enjoy the art style. I'd recommend watching it if you never have before. It's an amazing movie and is currently on Netflix. To this day, one of my favorites. I still enjoy listening to the music and watching the movie. I'd often find myself crying while watching.

Land before time. I still think it holds up well in comparison to today's kids movies. I may also be incredibly biased! lol

I was going to suggest The Neverending Story when I saw this topic, as well~ XD

I agree with the Disney, Pixar, and Ghibli comments above, at least the major films. Disney made a lot of movies and some of them have definitely not aged well.

I still really enjoy Who Framed Roger Rabbit. My husband and I watch it frequently when it comes up on Netflix, etc.

One of the things I don't miss about kids' movies from my childhood was the constant "if you try hard enough, your divorced or separated parents will get back together". There were far too many of those, and that's a really confusing message for children. (And that's still a theme in modern children's films... but I feel like it's less frequent.)

Disneys films from the late 80s and 90s hold up well. Anything before that can really be hit or miss

Disney released a lot of non-animated films in the late 80s and 90s that were cringe-worthy. XD (I liked Blank Check as a kid but it realllllly didn't age gracefully. Heavyweights.... Man of the House...) And then you've got the animated ones like A Goofy Movie or Doug's 1st Movie... not great.

It's just easy to overlook those among the great films that Disney did produce at the time. Very Happy

Seeing as Halloween just ended, The Nightmare Before Christmas has and will continue to age fantastically. As for Hocus Pocus...not so much. Still fun to watch, but I wonder if it'd keep the attention of kids today, or if they'd just pop in another movie.

We recently watched The Witches in the Old Lady Society and that's held up very well! I also think Home Alone 1 & 2 have aged really well, they're still hilarious and I watch them every year. Not sure if these are really kids movies but I watched them as a kid, Die Hard and Terminator both hold up well (I'm not sure of their movie ratings honestly so approach with caution, lol!). Jurassic Park is still great and personally I still love to watch Fern Gully, Robin Williams is hilarious in it and it has a great environmental message.

The Princess Bride. It will never not be an awesome movie.
